Zulfkar for timely distribution of food-grains among consumers | KNO

Says ensuring enhanced basic services Department’s prime responsibility

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Information, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, today chaired a meeting to review the supply and stock position of essential commodities  in various districts of Jammu.

Secretary, FCS&CA Shafiq Ahmad Raina, Director, FCS&CA R A Inqalabi, Director, FCS&CA Kashmir Nisar Ahmad Wani, Assistant Directors, Tehsil Supply Officers and other officers of the department were present in the meeting.

The Minister directed the officers to ensure cent percent procurement, lifting and distribution of food grains in all locations so that the consumers do not suffer on this account. He exhorted upon them to further streamline the overall process in this regard. He asked the Assistant Director, Trade and Stores to maintain adequate stock in the food stores and work in close coordination with the TSOs so that consumers don’t face any difficulty in getting their due rights.

The Minister said the department’s prime responsibility is to provide basic amenities including ration, kerosene and liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the people at their doorsteps. He directed the officers to leave no stone unturned in meeting the requirements and the aspirations of the people as well.

He further asked the officers to maintain accountability and transparency in the functioning of the department besides strengthening grievance redressal mechanism.    

The Minister asked the officers to conduct regular field visits at fair price shops and check that adequate food grains are available there. He also asked them to make sure that the consumers get quality essentials.

Stressing on the need for collective efforts to ensure proper distribution of food grains, the Minister said FCI, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and FCS&CA should work in close coordination.
